The 38th World Conference is fast approaching and together with the Girl Guides Association of Cyprus (GGAC) we are working to ensure that you have a valuable, inspirational and unparalleled conference in Nicosia, Cyprus (26 – 31 July 2023).

The World Conference is a highlight in our calendars when Member Organisations (MOs) from across the world come together to celebrate our successes, reflect on our past work, and focus on the future. It is a key event for MOs to make connections; elect six new World Board members; discuss and shape the futureof the Movement based on MO current needs, interests, and priorities; make new friends, and share bestpractices; and work together to explore tools and resources to expand Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting.

The World Board is committed to engage with MOs in planning, developing, and delivering the Conference during the next eight months, shaping the programme together and co-creating the new WAGGGS Global Strategy.

Inspired by the conference theme Dream, Act, Lead: The future is ours; we will dream of what an equal world where all girls can thrive looks like; acting and leading the way to make our vision a reality by 2032.

Registrations for the conference will open in January 2023. This pack offers you all the information you need to know about the registration process, fees, accommodation, and general conference arrangements.

We, the Girl Guides Association of Cyprus (GGAC), have put on our warmest smile, have opened our hearts, and proudly welcome you to the 38th World Conference, which will take place in our beautiful island, in July 2023. As this will be our first world event as Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, after three hard years, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we dream, plan, prepare and already act to experience with you an unparalleled World Conference in the bright capital of our island, Nicosia.

We count on every one of you to respond to our call, with your participation and engagement, and open new roads for the future of our world movement, and for the future of every girl in the world. Afterall, this is a promise we make to ourselves, to the girls in our association – our Chrysalides, Butterflies, Guides, Sea-Air-Forest Guides, Senior Guides and Young Leaders – and to every girl and young woman. Through the theme of our World Conference, “Dream, Act, Lead: The future is ours”, and along with our World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), we can all work on our goals for our Compass 2032, and chart together the course for Guiding in the years to come. Most importantly, we ask each one to take your personal action, in helping us fulfil the commitment we made, for the first sustainable WAGGGS World Conference. For our environment, our society, our planet, and our future!

We are here to ensure that you will experience a memorable time in Cyprus. We plan to introduce you to its natural beauties, its rich history and culture, its unique cuisine, but mainly to the warm hospitality of its people. Wonderful experiences are just waiting to be enjoyed here; along with the new friends of silver that you will make, and the old friends of gold that you will see again in Nicosia, Cyprus.
