Travel to Cyprus

The legal ports of entry into the Republic of Cyprus are the international airports of Larnaca and Paphos which are situated in the area under the effective control of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus.

  • Larnaca Airport is approximately a 40 minute (48km) drive from the meeting venue.
  • Paphos Airport is approximately a 1 hour and 30 minute (140km) drive from the meeting venue.

Entry into the territory of the Republic of Cyprus via any other airport in the area of Cyprus in which the Government of the Republic does not exercise effective control (Turkish occupied area) is illegal. Please note that delegates will be expected to arrange their own travel bookings to Cyprus.

Cyprus is easily accessible as it is linked with numerous direct and connecting flights with all the main European cities, Middle East, Africa and Asian countries.

Transport from the Airport

All hotel choices that are located in Nicosia or Larnaca are only a short transfer away.

Visa Information

EU countries, commonwealth countries and the USA do NOT need a visa.

Schengen Visa holders are allowed to enter the Republic of Cyprus.

  • Citizens of these countries are not required to have Cyprus visa for a stay of up to 90 days
  • Citizens of these countries are required to have an entry visa to Cyprus

You will need to apply for a visa through your country’s Cypriot Consulate, Embassy or High Commission.

Steps for Application Process:

  • Apply for a visa in your country of residence – Find the Cyprus embassy/high-commission/consulate or visa application centre (authorised by the Cypriot authorities) in which you must submit your application on this website
  • Find out about the entry requirements.
  • Complete your visa application.
  • Contact them to make an appointment.
  • Collect the required documents.
  • Submit the application along with the required (supporting) documents on the date of your appointment.
  • Pay the visa fee.
  • Wait for the visa to be processed.
  • Pick up your passport and documents. If your application was successful, the embassy/consular staff will affix your visa to your passport. If your application has been refused you will be notified in writing with the reasons for the refusal.

GGAC has organised a special visa fee for the World Conference. If you require a visa support letter, please let us know during the registration process. GGAC will issue an invitation letter and a special pricing code for you to present when applying for a visa. We ask that you do this by 3 April 2023 to ensure adequate time to prepare the letter and for you to apply for your visa.

If you are transiting through another country on your way to Cyprus, you must check if you need a transit visa for this purpose.

Insurance

It is the responsibility of the individual to ensure that they have adequate and appropriate insurance to cover: personal property, travel disruption, injury, medical expenses, general liability and life cover for the period of travel to, travel from and during the stay at the 38th World Conference. As an organisation, WAGGGS holds public/general liability insurance coverage that is reviewed regularly.

Neither GGAC nor WAGGGS can take responsibility for any medical, accident or personal property claims by World Conference participants (other than those that may fall under public liability). WAGGGS will also not be liable for travel costs in the event of cancellation of the event for any reason.
